Synopsis

As part of Palestine Cinema Days, Coca Theatre presents a special screening program inviting audiences to take a closer look at the lives and realities of Palestinian people through the lens of cinema.

Featuring three selected documentaries—Fidaa, Maha, and With Hassan in Gaza—the program offers intimate portraits of everyday life, personal experiences, collective memories, and human resilience amid conflict. Each film brings a different perspective, creating space for Palestinian stories to be seen, heard, and remembered.

More than just a film screening, this program is an invitation to build empathy, broaden perspectives, and celebrate cinema as a medium for understanding humanity.

Three films, different stories, one shared humanity.

Films in this programme

3 short films, screened back to back in one showtime. One ticket covers all of them.

  1. 01

    With Hassan in Gaza

by Kamal Aljafari (2025) 106 min

Three MiniDV tapes of life in Gaza from 2001 were recently rediscovered. This footage is now a testament to a place and time that no longer exists. What started as a search for a former prison mate from 1989—a man lost to time and war— led to an unexpected road trip from the north to the south of Gaza with Hasan, a local guide whose fate remains unknown. As the camera moves through Gaza’s streets and landscapes, it records fleeting moments of everyday life—fragments of a reality now irreversibly altered. With Hasan in Gaza transforms this forgotten footage into a cinematic reflection on memory, loss and the passage of time, capturing a Gaza of the past and lives that may never be found again.

  2. 02

    Fidaa

by Khaled Tuaima (2025) 11 min

The film follows Fidaa Abu Maryam on her journey to wield storytelling as a psychological shield. By gathering testimonies of Gazan women, she transforms their narratives into a living archive of feminist memory, defying oblivion and reclaiming the self from the heart of the ruins.

  3. 03

    Maha

by Moayed Abu Ammouna (2026) 4 min

The film tells the story of Maha Abu Ammouna, a displaced mother who, in the heart of genocide, becomes a mother, teacher, doctor, and refuge, reinventing life for her children from nothing through imagination and play to shield them from fear and create a safer world within the ruins.
